The yellowfin tuna is one of the strongest and most popular gamefish. Their habit of schooling and feeding at the surface makes yellowfin particularly exciting targets for sportfishermen. Yellowfin are decidedly bluewater pelagics but may move into coastal waters at times. The fast-growing tuna can reach 200 pounds in seven years and can grow upwards of 400lbs. This painting from my ‘black and white’ series portrays a yellowfin tuna hooked on a trolling feather as it appears just below the surface.
